# Level Up

For the last 16 weeks or so I've been studying for my intermediate
amateur radio license. In the UK licensing is a three tier system
with varying restrictions. Yesterday I sat and passed the exam.

I have already made the decision to continue studying to achieve
the full license.

Full license privileges include being able to transmit outside of
the UK, use club call signs without supervision, access to the 60m
band and a maximum transmit power of 1kW.

I can't ever see myself running that sort of transmit power but,
not being able to use the club call sign for dependence on others
has been a recurring irritation. Access to 60m, away from some
of the general poor operating frequently displayed on other bands,
should also prove worthwhile.
