# My last android A few weeks ago I put my android phone on charge, when I came to take it off the thing practically burned my hand. Thankfully, this was the last of the Motorola phones that had a removable battery. So, I pulled the battery and let it cool down. Some time later I put the battery back in and the thing started to heat up around the camera area. It would appear there is some kind of internal short or high resistance causing it to get extremely hot and it will no longer turn on. This is the second android phone that I've put on charge and has died... ## Androids of the past The list of android devices I've owned: * 2013 First generation Tesco Hudl (Sold, outdated android version) * 2013 Samsung S4 Zoom phone (Died after putting it on charge) * 2014 Lenovo YogaTab 2 (Still have it but, outdated android version) * 2017 Motorola G5 phone (Died after putting it on charge) ## Summary My daily driver phone continues to be a 2009 [Nokia E72][1], which pre-dates all of the above. The androids I've owned, which have physically continued to work, have all become obsolete due to changes in googles API's and lack of support from the manufacturers. These devices are practically disposable and this is not something I'm comfortable with so, I won't be buying any more. ## Update 02/08/2026 Further to the above resolution, I have today also deleted my google account. I am now [DeGoogled][2]. [1]: gopher://gopherpedia.com/0/Nokia%20E72 [2]: gopher://gopherpedia.com/0/DeGoogle
