# Heatwave It's a common joke that it's always raining in England and, it's not so far from the truth. However, occasionally we have an abnormally hot, dry spell which we appear to be in the middle of right now. Kids are being sent home at lunch time. People are being advised to use water responsibly (whatever that means) and keep cool. I went out in my car this morning and tried to park in the shade, unfortunately everyone had the same idea and so I was forced to park in partial sunlight. When I returned to the car a few hours later, the steering wheel was so hot that you couldn't hold it. On the ride home the temperature reading on the dashboard was 37.5C I usually reside on the upper floor of our two story home. But, with the computers and radios on it is stiflingly hot in my room; even with a large fan pointed directly at me. I have a small USB fan pointed at the back of the radios also, to try and keep them at a reasonable temperature. It's been sticky and uncomfortable. Shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops attire. This evening I waited for it to get quite late and a bit cooler before braving the heat to mow the rather messy looking front lawn. Glad I did it, but it felt like twice the job it should have been due to the heat. Stay cool, stay hydrated folks!
