# Generic batteries I have just received two sets of 4 rechargeable batteries that I'd recently ordered, one of AA and one of AAA. I have several devices which use this type of generic battery. In fact, when I am purchasing electronics, I look specifically for devices which use generic, user replaceable, batteries. My preferred battery brand is Eneloop[1]. Produced in Japan by either Panasonic or Sanyo, these batteries arrive pre-charged, retain the majority of their charge (70% over 10yrs) and have a very good run time. I have not found a better quality rechargeable battery. In combination with a smart charger, which varies the current put into the battery depending on state and stops charging them when they are full, on a per cell basis. They provide a very good reliable, instantly replaceable, generic source of power. Additionally, the new packaging informs us that the batteries are "pre-charged with solar energy" and that the packaging uses "68% less paper". Great product. ![1]( gopher://gopher.icu/I/images/eneloop.jpg )
