Christine Fréchette was sworn in as premier of Quebec during a ceremony
held at the National Assembly, formally assuming office as the second
woman to hold the position in the province’s history. The swearing-in
marked the completion of the leadership transition following recent
political developments within the governing party.
The new premier proceeded with the formation of her cabinet, maintaining
largely the same composition as the previous government, with limited
adjustments to key portfolios. The approach reflects continuity in the
structure and operation of the executive branch.
In her first remarks as head of government, she outlined the main
priorities of her administration, referring to economic matters,
public services and the management of ongoing challenges facing the
province. The address remained aligned with the existing policy
direction of the government.
Her assumption of office comes alongside the need to maintain cohesion
within the governing party, while addressing issues already on the
provincial agenda. At the same time, the new leadership faces
expectations emerging within the political and social environment.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in the presence of officials and
members of the political leadership, with Christine Fréchette formally
taking responsibility for governing the province of Quebec.
