# No Shit, Sherlock! - The Шерлок Холмс Series

       There are a lot of Sherlock Holmes adaptions out
       there. You know the deal: Holmes, Sir Doyle's
       famous sleuth, is an aspergerous hero who
       outthinks and outsmarts villains, collegues and
       his only friend, Dr. Watson.
       
       Surely, there is more to it, but this is no
       literary analysis. What I want to point out is
       that there is a really good russian adaption of
       Sherlock Holmes's adventures, aired first on
       channel Russia-1 (Россия-1) in 2013 and coproduced
       by them and Central Partnership (Централ
       Партнершип) and directed by Andrey Kavun.
       
       The series presents an actually believable Dr.
       Watson (the late Andrei Panin) and a sound Holmes
       (Igor Petrenko).
       
       The 27 year old Holmes is not an expert in
       hand-to-hand combat or stick fighting. He doesn't
       own a gun, isn't an athlete, is definitely not an
       extrovert, and should never, on no occasions, be
       allowed to play the violin. Never.  Period. He is
       not, in no way, a flamboyant Victorian super-hero.
       But he is really, extraordinarily, good at solving
       crimes.
       
       Watson, among 15 years older than Holmes, is a
       shy, polite, hands on war veteran. He suffers from
       PTSD, which manifests itself, on strenuous
       occasions, in flash backs. Looking for means to
       open his own doctors' office, he decides to write
       about Holmes' adventures and sometimes politely
       extrapolites or alters some details...
       
       But enough with the spoilers, already. Currently
       the series is still on YT. Such a pity, that there
       are only 8 episodes.
       
       Unfortunately, I couldn't find the episodes with
       english subtitles.  But perhaps you might find
       them somewhere else.
