Forecast - Macquarie Island

Weather Situation:
A trough will cross Macca overnight tonight with a westerly stream quickly
redeveloping during the morning. A warm front is then expected to cross the
island late Friday morning, with a low and associated trough to approach from
the west late on Saturday, crossing early Sunday with another low to approach
from the west later Sunday.

Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 10 December
Mostly cloudy with late showers.
Winds: Northwesterly 15 to 25 knots.
Seas: 2 to 3 metres.
Swell: West to northwesterly 3 to 4 metres.

Forecast for Thursday 11 December
Mostly cloudy with showers and possible sleet.
Winds: West to southwesterly 10 to 20 knots, tending westerly 15 to 25 knots around
the middle of the day, then west to northwesterly during the afternoon.
Seas: Up to 2.5 metres.
Swell: Westerly 3 to 4 metres, decaying to 2 to 3 metres during the day.

Outlook for Friday 12 December
Low cloud, mist, and drizzle at times.
Winds: West to northwesterly 10 to 15 knots, shifting northwesterly 15 to 25 knots
during the morning. Seas: Up to 2.5 metres. Swell: Westerly 2 to 3 metres.

Outlook for Saturday 13 December
Low cloud, mist, and drizzle, increasing to light rain late.
Winds: Northwesterly 20 to 30 knots, tending north to northeasterly late. Seas: Up to
2.5 metres. Swell: West to northwesterly 2 to 3 metres.

Outlook for Sunday 14 December
Mostly cloudy with showers.
Winds: Varible winds below 15 knots, tending east to northeasterly 15 to 25 knots
during the day. Seas: Up to 1 to 2 metres. Swell: West to northwesterly 2 to 3
metres. Northeasterly 1 to 2 metres building.
