Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure system lies over much of SA and is expected to persist over southern SA into Thursday. Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure over the far northwest is expected to linger along the northern border today. The trough will extend further south on Thursday, before moving eastwards across the west and south of SA on Friday. Another ridge of high pressure will move over the south during the weekend as the trough moves into the northeast. Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 10 December Isolated light showers clearing the southeast. Isolated thunderstorms about the far west and far northeast. South to southeasterly winds, although northeasterly in the northeast, fresh at times about the coast and in the northeast. Forecast for Thursday 11 December Possible thunderstorms with little to no rainfall, mainly about the north but also a risk further south about central and eastern districts. Maximum temperatures above average to well above average in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds becoming southeast to southerly during the afternoon, fresh at times about the coast. Forecast for Friday 12 December Isolated thunderstorms about border areas with little, if any, rainfall. Maximum temperatures well above average. Northeast to northwesterly winds ahead of a fresh to strong and gusty southwest to southerly change extending from the west following the passage of the trough. Forecast for Saturday 13 December Isolated showers contracting to the north and southern coasts in the afternoon. Thunderstorms possible about the eastern and pastoral districts, most likely about the North East Pastoral district. Maximum temperatures near average. Fresh southerly winds in the west and south, gradually extending over the northeast. Forecast for Sunday 14 December Isolated showers about southern coastal areas. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms about the far northeast clearing during the day. Maximum temperatures below average about the agricultural area, and near average in the north.
