Weather Situation
The monsoon trough extends over Cape York Peninsula and may drift a little
southward in the coming days. A tropical low (18U) lies within the trough near
the western Peninsula coast and is forecast to drift southward today and linger
near the southern Gulf into next week. A weak ridge will persist along the east
coast over the weekend. Another trough will move east across southeastern
Australia later this weekend and help to draw hot conditions more broadly
across southern Queensland.

Forecast for the rest of Sunday 25 January
Cloudy. High chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm during this
afternoon and evening, possibly severe with heavy rain which may lead to flash
flooding in the north. Light winds becoming easterly 15 to 20 km/h in the
morning then becoming light in the evening. Daytime maximum temperatures around
30.
