Space X test rocket crashes in Texas ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- August 23, 2014 Original URL: http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/SpaceX_test_rocket_crashes_in_Texas Space X's F9R test vehicle self-destructed on Friday (yesterday, UTC) during a test flight at their Mc Gregor, Texas test facility. There were no injuries. According to a witness, "there is a big grass fire from falling debris." According to a statement issued by Space X, "Throughout the test and subsequent flight termination, the vehicle remained in the designated flight area. There were no injuries or near injuries. An FAA representative was present at all times." John Taylor, a Space X spokesman, said that "[d]uring the flight, an anomaly was detected in the vehicle and the flight termination system automatically terminated the mission." Space X has said that more information will be forthcoming once they've analyzed the flight data. == Sources == * http://www.businessinsider.com/spacex-explode-2014-8#ixzz3BAcrJ3JL * http://www.nbcnews.com/science/space/spacex-test-flight-detonated-over-texas-town-n186436 * https://twitter.com/EthansMommy17/status/502955891025408000 .
