US Gulf Coast Prepares for Hurricane Delta's Arrival

   Storm warnings are posted,andsomeevacuations are underway along the
   western Gulf Coast region of the United States ahead of Hurricane
   Delta's expected arrival Friday.

   Delta made landfall on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula Wednesday as
   aCategory2storm, downing trees,knocking out powerto thousands,flooding
   roads and breaking glass in buildingsas touristsand residents sought
   refuge in shelters.

   The AssociatedPress reportsthe governor of the state of Quintana
   Roosaid there were no reports of injuries or death.

   Retiree Jose IgnacioVelazquez said, the damage was normal for a
   hurricane of this nature, but people were expecting more.

   Velazquez saidthere werevery strong windsbutnot alot of rain,andhe
   thinks they cameout Okay.

   Deltaloss intensity after moving across the peninsula. The storm then
   moved intothesouthern Gulf of Mexico,wherethe National Hurricane Center
   forecast it will regainmajorhurricane strengthby Thursday night.

   HurricaneDeltaisstill expected to hitthe state ofLouisiana Friday.
