Japan Marks 9th Anniversary of 2011 Disaster with Muted Observances

   Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe led the country in a moment of
   silence Tuesday on the ninth anniversary of the massive earthquake and
   subsequent tsunami that killed at least 18,000 people.

   Abe and his Cabinet ministers gathered in his office in Tokyo and held
   a silent prayer at the exact moment a 9.0-magnitude earthquake struck
   off the country's northeastern coast on March 11, 2011.
