Ugandan University Researcher Released Amid Commotion, Live Bullets

   KAMPALA - A Ugandan high court judge has quashed the conviction of
   Makerere University researcher Stella Nyanzi, who was jailed for cyber
   harassment and offensive communication against President Yoweri
   Museveni. However, Nyanzi's release from prison Thursday was marked by
   commotion and firing of live ammunition by prison officials before she
   was taken back to prison.

   Nyanzi has been in jail since November 2018, when the government
   accused her of cyber harassing and offensive communication against
   President Yoweri Museveni and his late mother.
