   South Africa's president hasdelivered a withering description of the
   corruption that plaguesthe ruling AfricanNational Congress.

   Cyril Ramaphosa, in a letterdated August 23, 2020that wassent to all
   ANC members,beganhiscastigationwith the controversysurrounding
   theawarding of contractsto help the country deal with the COVID-19
   contagion.

   "What has caused thegreatestoutrage is that thereare privatesector
   companies andindividuals(including civil servants) who haveexploiteda
   grave medical, social and economic crisis to wrongfully enrich
   themselves," the letter said. "This is an unforgivable betrayal for the
   millions ofSouthAfricanswho are being negatively affected by
   theimpactof COVID-19, experiencinghungerdaily,hopelessnessand
   joblessness."
