Officials: Trump Thanks Pakistani, Afghan Leaders for Release of Western
Hostages

   ISLAMABAD - U.S. President Donald Trump telephoned Pakistani Prime
   Minister Imran Khan on Thursday and thanked him for Islamabad's efforts
   in facilitating the release of two Western hostages in Afghanistan,
   according to Khan's office.

   The conversation followed Tuesday's prisoner swap that won freedom for
   American Kevin King and Australian Timothy John Weeks, the two
   university professors who had been held hostage by the Afghan Taliban
   since August 2016. In return, the Afghan government freed three
   high-ranking Taliban prisoners.
