Pompeo Tells Turkey of Disappointment About Missile Purchase

   WASHINGTON -- U.S. Secretary of State MikePompeo spoke with Turkey's
   foreign minister on Saturday andexpressed disappointment over the
   country's acquisition of theRussian S-400 missile system, the U.S.
   State Department said ina statement.

   Washington had opposed Turkey's purchase of the Russianmissile defense
   system and threatened to impose sanctions. Sincethen, President Donald
   Trump has been unclear aboutwhether hisadministration was planning such
   an action.

   Several Republican and Democratic U.S. lawmakers on Thursdaypressed
   Trump to impose sanctions on Turkey forthe purchase.
