House Democrats Lay Out Lengthy Case for Impeachment Masood Farivar WASHINGTON - Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives laid out their strongest case for impeaching U.S. President Donald Trump in a highly anticipated report on Tuesday. [1]The 300-page report accused Trump of "misconduct" in seeking Ukrainian political interference in the 2020 presidential election and then relentlessly trying to "obstruct" Congress as it carried out an inquiry into his dealings. THE TRUMP-UKRAINE IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY REPORT Report of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Pursuant to H. Res. 660 in Consultation with the House Committee on Oversight and Reform and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs[2]https://t.co/EVLYVpuLKA -- House Intelligence Committee (@HouseIntel) [3]December 3, 2019 The nearly three-month impeachment inquiry "has found that President Trump, personally and acting through agents within and outside of the U.S. government, solicited the interference of a foreign government, Ukraine, to benefit his reelection," the report stated. "In doing so, the President placed his own personal and political interests above the national interests of the United States, sought to undermine the integrity of the U.S. presidential election process, and endangered U.S. national security," the report declared. The report was prepared by Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee. On Tuesday the committee voted 13-9, along party lines, to adopt the report and send it to the House Judiciary Committee where there will be a partisan debate on whether to draft articles of impeachment against Trump. The report accused the president of carrying out an "unprecedented obstruction" of the impeachment inquiry by "instructing witnesses and agencies to ignore subpoenas for documents and testimony" demanded by congressional investigative committees.
