Wildfire Prompts Evacuations in Canary Islands Reuters TEJEDA, SPAIN - A wildfire in the CanaryIslands led to the evacuation of a small town in GranCanariaisland on Saturday, and officials said the blaze had a "greatpotential" to spread. The wildfire started in the town ofValleseco, and anemergency area was also declared for the municipalities of Moyaand Tejeda. In the latter, most parts of the town of 1,900inhabitants were evacuated for precautionary reasons and roadswere closed, the regional government said. Seven helicopters, as well as firefighters on the ground,were battling the blaze. Tejeda had been evacuated last week when another wildfireaffected the area. .
