Private Turkish Plane Crashes in Iran - State TV by VOA News A private Turkish plane carrying 11 people has crashed in southern Iran, Iranian state television reported Sunday. Iran Civil Aviation Organization spokesman Reza Jafarzadeh told state television, "We can confirm that a Turkish private jet ... while passing through our airspace disappeared from the radar and crashed near Shahr-e Kord." The plane had reportedly taken off from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, and burst into flames when it crashed on a mountain.
