UN: Aid Workers Missing in South Sudan by VOA News Ten aid workers are missing in South Sudan in what a U.N. official describes as unclear circumstances. The U.N. humanitarian coordinator for South Sudan, Alain Noudehou, said the workers disappeared Wednesday as their convoy left Yei town. "We are deeply concerned about the whereabouts of these humanitarian workers and are urgently seeking information about their well-being," he said. The aid workers vanished just days after gunmen took another group of humanitarian workers hostage. Noudehou said this is the third time aid workers have been abducted by armed groups in the last six months. South Sudan is among the world's most dangerous countries for humanitarian workers. About 100 have been killed since the beginning of the country's civil war in December 2013. The government and the opposition have not claimed responsibility for the latest disappearance. The Associated Press cites Army spokesman Lul Ruai Koang as saying the army did not know the workers had gone missing.
