US Service Member Killed in Eastern Afghanistan

   A U.S. service member was killed and other U.S. and Afghan forces were
   injured during a joint military operation against Islamic State
   militants in eastern Afghanistan, the U.S. military said Wednesday.

   The wounded were evacuated for treatment, the statement said.

   The military released no further details.
