Suspected IS Militants Execute 30 in Central Afghanistan by VOA News Militants suspected to belong to the Islamic State group kidnapped and executed 30 people in the central Afghanistan province of Ghor, according to a local government official. "Afghan police killed a Daesh (IS) commander in Ghor province during an operation yesterday, but Daesh fighters abducted some 30 civilians from near the provincial capital and shot them all dead in revenge," Ghor government spokesman Abdul Hai Khatibi. The abductions took place late Tuesday night near the provincial capital Firoz Koh, as Afghan security forces engaged in battle with members of the Taliban nearby. So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the killings.
