Gunmen Assault Pakistan Police Training Center in Quetta

   ISLAMABAD --

   A group of at least six heavily armed gunmen Monday assaulted a police
   training center and adjoining hostel in Quetta, the capital of
   Pakistan's southwestern Baluchistan province. Pakistani troops have
   surrounded the facility and an operation is underway to neutralize the
   threat, an army spokesman said.

   Witnesses and personnel who managed to escape the complex reported
   there was an exchange of gunfire with security guards. There have been
   several casualties, but officials have not yet issued any details.
   There were reportedly more than 200 people inside the training center
   at the time of the attack.
