Trump Wants Apology from 'Rude' Hamilton Cast for Treatment of Pence by VOA News President-elect Donald Trump is calling on the cast of the Broadway musical Hamilton to apologize to Vice President-elect Mike Pence after one of the show's lead actors addressed Pence in a speech following the show's performance Friday night. Pence, who attended the show with his nephew and daughter, was greeted by boos and cheers from the audience when he arrived at the theater. As the performance was ending, actor Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr, singled out Pence, insisting he "work on behalf of all of us." "We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights," Dixon said on stage as Pence exited the theater. The audience applauded the speech, but Pence was gone before Dixon finished delivering his prepared remarks. Trump apparently didn't appreciate the treatment of his second-in-command, and on Saturday morning implored the cast to apologize to Pence. "Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!" Trump posted on his Twitter account. "The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!" Hamilton is an award-winning musical based on the life of Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of America. The Hamilton cast has not responded to Trump's request for an apology, but after Pence left the show, its producer Jeffrey Seller said he hoped the message of empathy would have an effect on the vice-president-elect. "I hope that maybe it inspires him to feel for those not like him," Seller said.
