Students Walk Out, Call for 'Sanctuary Campus' by VOA News As daily protests against the election of Donald Trump continue a week after vote results were announced, more groups of students are staging walkouts. A large number were planned Wednesday at universities across the United States. Some protesters are calling for their campuses to be named "sanctuary campuses." The campuses would be safe spaces for undocumented students, barring authorities from asking for documentation or turning over undocumented students to federal authorities. Social media reports show students at as many as 80 universities, including Princeton, New York University, Duke in North Carolina, and the University of California in Los Angeles are planning walkouts to protest President-elect Donald Trump's campaign pledge to deport undocumented immigrants.
