Sri Lanka: 200 Families Feared Buried in Mudslide by VOA News At least two hundred families in Sri Lanka have been reported missing and are feared buried under a mudslide following torrential rains and flooding, the Sri Lankan Red Cross said Wednesday. In a statement released online, the Sri Lankan Red Cross said two rescue teams were dispatched early Wednesday alongside government authorities and had since rescued 180 people, despite power outages in the villages of Siripura, Pallebage, and Elagipitya in Aranayake located in the Kegalle District. The Red Cross said at least 13 bodies have also been found so far. The rains have caused flooding in cities including Colombo. Schools across the country have been closed Wednesday due to the bad weather. Sri Lanka's Disaster Management Center has reported 11 dead from electrocution and smaller landslides over the past few days. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/sri-lanka-mudslide/3335235.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/sri-lanka-mudslide/3335235.html
