North Korea Producing Plutonium by VOA News North Korea has apparently restarted production of plutonium for use in its nuclear weapons program. U.S. and United Nations officials say North Korea has restarted a fuel reprocessing plant at its main nuclear complex at Yongbyon. The plant recovers plutonium from spent reactor fuel. South Korean officials say they are closely monitoring the developments and are deeply concerned by Pyongyang's nuclear activities. The reprocessing plant had been shut down in 2007 as part of an international disarmament-for-aid deal. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said last year that satellite monitoring showed signs of renewed activity at Yongbyon. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/north-korea-producing-plutonium/33668 90.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/north-korea-producing-plutonium/3366890.html
