Israel's Netanyahu Starts Rare Africa Trip by VOA News Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in Uganda to begin a rare tour of sub-Saharan Africa and to mark the 1976 hostage rescue in which his brother was killed. Netanyahu landed at Entebbe International Airport, where Israeli commandos rescued more than 100 passengers and crew of a hijacked Air France plane on July 4, 1976.The only fatality Israeli forces suffered in the raid was Jonathan Netanyahu, the prime minister's older brother. After a ceremony at the airport's old terminal, Netanyahu is to attend a summit of regional leaders focusing on security. In exchange for counter-terrorism expertise and financial aid, Israel wants African nations to give it support at the United Nations, where Israel is regularly condemned for its occupation of the West Bank and blockade of the Gaza Strip. He flies to Kenya later in the day, and will also visit Ethiopia and Rwanda during his four-day tour. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/netanyahu-visits-africa/3403114.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/netanyahu-visits-africa/3403114.html
