                 2 Dead in Shooting at Lackland Air Force Base

   Texas authorities said two people were killed Friday at Lackland Air
   Force Base in San Antonio.

   Bexar County sheriff and San Antonio police responded to reports of a
   shooter shortly before 9 a.m. Friday.

   Sheriff spokesman James Keith said two bodies were found inside a room
   in a building at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

   ''Keith said the shooter is believed to be among the two dead. However,
   sheriff's deputies and other law enforcement officers are continuing to
   search the building and nearby facilities.

   The base was reportedly on lockdown.

   Lackland is a key training installation for the U.S. Air Force.

   In 2009, Fort Hood, which is about 260 kilomters (160 miles) from
   Lackland Air Force Base, was the site of the deadliest shooting at a
   U.S. military base, when 13 people were killed and 31 were injured.
