                  Extreme Flooding, Dramatic Rescues in Japan

   Heavy rains in already drenched areas of central and northern Japan
   caused major flooding Thursday, forcing tens of thousands of people to
   evacuate and setting off dramatic rescues of those who could not get
   out in time.
