                Palestinians Stage New Knife Attacks on Israelis

   A Palestinian who slashed two Israeli religious students in Jerusalem
   Friday was shot and wounded by security forces.

   A large force of police began security patrols after the knife attack
   near a light rail station in east Jerusalem.

   Earlier Friday two other Palestinians were shot during a knife attack
   on Israeli police at a West Bank checkpoint near Hebron.

   An Israeli police spokesman said one of the Hebron attackers was killed
   and the other wounded. One police officer also was wounded.

   Media reports say demonstrators clashed with Israeli troops on the
   outskirts of Ramallah and nine Palestinians were injured by rubber
   bullets.

   Friday's incidents were the latest in a recent string of violent
   clashes involving Israelis and Palestinians. Scores of people have died
   during the past month as a result of attacks and counterattacks. Most
   of those killed have been Palestinians.
