At Least 42 Dead in French Bus Crash by VOA News At least 42 people, mostly retirees, are believed to have died in a road accident near the French city of Bordeaux, in what is being called the nation's worst traffic accident in three decades. Officials say a truck crashed into a bus full of passengers at a sharp bend in the road near the village of Puisseguin, causing both vehicles to burst into flame. Eight people are reported to have escaped the blaze, and dozens of emergency officials have converged on the area. President Francois Hollande commented on the accident while traveling in Greece, saying the government has "fully mobilized" to cope with what he called a "terrible tragedy." He has not ruled out cutting his trip short to return to France. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manuel Valls, Interior Minister Bernard Cazaneuve, and Transport Minister Alain Vidal are headed to the scene of the accident about 50 kilometers east of Bordeaux. The crash is believed to be the worst road accident since 1982 when 53 people, including 44 children, died in a bus crash in eastern France. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/france-bus-crash/3019762.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/france-bus-crash/3019762.html
