Recovery Operations Continue in Texas, Mexico After Severe Weather by VOA News Recovery operations in Texas and Mexico are expected to continue Tuesday, after severe weather ravaged the region. The city of Houston got as much as 25 centimeters of rainfall in some areas Monday into Tuesday. Many people were stranded overnight at a Houston sports arena and others are confined to their homes waiting for floodwaters to subside. At least six people have died in the storms in Texas and neighboring Oklahoma. Searchers in Texas are looking for 12 people whose vacation home was swept off its foundation by the flooded Blanco River. Across the border in Mexico, people are cleaning up in Ciudad Acuna after a tornado raged through the city killing at least 13 people. The twister flattened hundreds of homes. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has declared a state of emergency in 37 of the state's counties. The severe weather was spawned by a line of storms that stretched from the Gulf of Mexico northward to the Great Lakes.
