Saudi-Led Airstrikes Continue in Yemen's Capital by VOA News Airstrikes from a Saudi-led coalition continued overnight and into Monday in Yemen following a pledge by Arab leaders to press their military campaign until Iranian-backed Houthi rebels surrender. Warplanes targeted the capital, Sana'a, and other areas on the fifth day of airstrikes in support of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, who asked for help last week saying the Houthis had rejected efforts for peace. The Houthis took over Sana'a in September and in recent weeks pushed south to the port city of Aden, where Hadi fled to last month in order to try to govern. He left Yemen for Riyadh last week. Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Elaraby said Sunday that Hadi's "legitimate government" must be restored. "We need to take the necessary steps to confront them and we have seen this done practically as Yemen was sliding into chaos," Elaraby said as an Arab summit ended Sunday in Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt. Leaders at the summit also agreed to create a joint Arab military force to deal with security threats and terror groups in the region. The details must still be worked out in a process that is expected to take months. Previous attempts to create a unified command in the divided Arab world have failed. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/saudi-led-airstrikes-continue-in-yeme ns-capital/2699534.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/saudi-led-airstrikes-continue-in-yemens-capital/2699534.html
