Kerry, Zarif Hold More Nuclear Talks as Deadline Nears by VOA News The negotiations on Iran's nuclear program continue Tuesday in Switzerland with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif holding a second day of talks. They met for about five hours on Monday trying to get closer to an outline of an agreement that would ensure Iran's nuclear program is peaceful in exchange for easing economic sanctions that have hurt the country's economy. A senior U.S. official said Monday that it was not clear if the two sides will be able to reach a framework deal by a deadline set for the end of the month. "Iran still needs to make some very tough and necessary choices," the official told reporters on the condition of anonymity. Iran and the group that includes the U.S., Britain, China, France, Russia and Germany have given themselves until June 30 to have a final deal in place. The West has accused Iran of using its nuclear program to seek nuclear weapons, but Iran insists its nuclear activity is solely for peaceful, civilian purposes such as medical research and generating power. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/with-2-weeks-until-deadline-kerry-zar if-hold-more-nuclear-talks/2683190.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/with-2-weeks-until-deadline-kerry-zarif-hold-more-nuclear-talks/2683190.html
