Turkish Police Arrest 'Unstable' Man Outside US Consulate in Istanbul by VOA News Turkish media are reporting that police have arrested a man who claimed to have explosives outside the U.S. consulate in Istanbul. News agencies said Friday police believe the man was "mentally unstable," though it was not clear whether he actually possessed a bomb. Police have cleared the street in front of the consulate. There have been several attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Turkey in recent years. A suicide bombing in February 2013 outside the U.S. embassy complex in Ankara killed a Turkish guard. That attack was claimed by a far-left Turkish group, the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front. The Marxist group also claimed responsibility for an attack in January when a suicide bomber set off his explosives at a police station in a popular Istanbul tourist district, killing a police officer and wounding another. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/turkish-police-arrest-unstable-man-ou tside-us-consulate-in-istanbul/2661386.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/turkish-police-arrest-unstable-man-outside-us-consulate-in-istanbul/2661386.html
