Massive Blast Rattles China Port City by VOA News A massive explosion erupted into the night-time skies over Tianjin, China, late Wednesday, apparently at a chemical container terminal where flammable material was being stored. There was no immediate explanation for the blast, although it is believed to have occurred in a shipping container. State media reported at least 50 people are being treated for injuries, including firefighters, but it is not known if anyone was killed in the blast. State-run Xinhua reported that the initial blast at the industrial plant was so powerful it set off secondary explosions, causing local tremors. People who witnessed the explosion posted pictures on social media outlets showing massive plumes of fire and smoke. Tianjin is a port city in northern China, about 150 kilometers southeast of Beijing. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/china-tianjin-explosion/2915368.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/china-tianjin-explosion/2915368.html
