              Statue of Liberty Evacuated Over Suspicious Package

   Visitors to the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor are being
   evacuated after a report of a suspicious package.

   The New York City police department said its units are investigating
   the site, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the New York
   area.

   The Wall Street Journal reports the evacuation was ordered after
   someone telephoned a bomb threat Friday and police dogs detected a
   suspicious scent on a package.

   Tourists visiting the site posted pictures and videos online of crowds
   of people boarding ferries to leave the island.

   The Statue of Liberty is on an island in the Hudson River, between
   Manhattan and New Jersey.
