               US Stocks Drop Sharply Amid Global Growth Concerns

   U.S. stocks fell well over two percent during Wednesday's trading, with
   the Dow index down by more than 400 points during the day.

   The stock market decline is the latest in a series of losses that have
   erased all the U.S. stock market gains for this year.

   Analysts say investors are worried by slowing growth in Europe and
   China.  Those worries may have intensified Wednesday following
   disappointing reports on U.S. retail sales and manufacturing.

   European markets also fell, while key Asian stock markets posted modest
   gains.
