Thousands March in Mexico for 43 Missing Students by VOA News Thousands of protesters marched Wednesday across Mexico, joining relatives of 43 missing college students to demand their return amid fears a police-backed gang executed them. Last week, authorities in Guerrero state found mass graves with the charred remains of up to 28 people. Authorities say it will take at least two weeks to confirm the identities of the bodies. The students disappeared September 26 after municipal police officers working with a gang took several students away in patrol cars in the city of Iguala. President Enrique Pena Nieto deployed hundreds of federal officers Monday to take over security in Iguala and disarm the local police. Twenty-two local police have been arrested in connection with the violence. Wednesday in Mexico City, people watching the protesters from the sidewalk held their fists up and chanted "you are not alone!" __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/thousands-march-in-mexico-for-missing -students/2478025.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/thousands-march-in-mexico-for-missing-students/2478025.html
