              Scientists Seek Better Ways to Weather Solar Storms

   The powerful solar winds that buffet the earth's atmosphere cause the
   shimmering northern lights of the aurora borealis, as well as many of
   the blackouts that plague our electrical systems. As Shelley Schlender
   reports from Boulder, Colorado, scientists are seeking better ways to
   weather solar storms Many safeguards have reduced the threat, but a
   growing number of scientists warn that we need to do even more - to
   help our power grid weather a super solar storm.
