Obama: 'Give America A Raise' by VOA News U.S. President Barack Obama says the U.S. unemployment rate fell last month to under six percent for the first time in more than six years. The U.S. leader said Saturday in his weekly address that businesses have created 10.3 million jobs during the past 55 months, marking the longest uninterrupted stretch of private sector job creation in American history. However, President Obama cautioned that even with all the economic achievements, most people have not seen an increase in their salaries in over a decade. He said it is time to "give America a raise" and "stop punishing some of the hardest-working Americans." Mr. Obama said a minimum wage increase to $10 and 10 cents would make the economy stronger, providing a way for more Americans "to climb into the middle class." __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-give-america-a-raise/2472597.ht ml References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-give-america-a-raise/2472597.html
