                    US Retailers Upbeat About Holiday Sales

   American retailers are gearing up for the all-important holiday
   shopping season, when many of them make the bulk of their profits for
   the year. A modest increase in sales compared with last year is
   projected, and several economic factors are contributing to the upbeat
