          CN-Supreme Court Rulings Fuel Money Surge in U.S. Elections

   Nearly $7 billion was spent on the 2012 U.S. presidential and
   congressional elections, according to the Federal Election Commission.
   Estimates for the next presidential election in 2016 are even higher --
   given Supreme Court rulings in recent years that have made it easier
   for wealthy individuals and groups to donate more money than ever. But
   government watchdog groups say the additional donations also bring the
   potential for corruption, as we hear from VOA National correspondent
   Jim Malone.
