Afghan Police: Explosions Near Home of Presidential Candidate Afghan police say suicide bombers have attacked an election office in the capital, Kabul. The Independent Election Commission office is near the home of Ashraf Ghani, a candidate in the country`s April 5 presidential election. Ghani was not in his house at the time of the attack Tuesday, and there were no immediate reports of casualties. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombings, which were followed by a fierce exchange of gunfire between militants and Afghan security forces. Taliban insurgents have vowed to disrupt the upcoming vote, which is considered key to Afghanistan`s stability after international troops end their combat mission in December. If successful, the poll would mark the country`s first democratic transfer of power. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/afghan-police-explosions-near-home-of -presidential-candidate/1878532.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/afghan-police-explosions-near-home-of-presidential-candidate/1878532.html
