Egypt Bans 'Terrorist' Hamas An Egyptian court has banned all activities by the Palestinian militant group Hamas and labeled it a terrorist organization. The ruling Tuesday also ordered the closure of Hamas offices in Egypt. Hamas is an offshoot of Egypt`s Muslim Brotherhood, which the interim government has declared a terrorist group and has been cracking down on since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi last July. Mr. Morsi is a Brotherhood member, and is facing trial on a number of charges, including collaborating with Hamas. He has denied the charges, and along with the Brotherhood has insisted he is still Egypt`s legitimate leader. Hamas spokesman condemned Tuesday`s ruling, saying it is a goes against the Palestinian cause. Hamas rules the Gaza Strip and wants to establish an Islamic state across Gaza, the West Bank and Israel. The West considers Hamas a terrorist group. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/egypt-bans-terrorist-hamas/1863564.ht ml References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/egypt-bans-terrorist-hamas/1863564.html
