Benghazi Suspect Arrives in US by VOA News The suspected leader of the deadly attack nearly two years ago on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, has arrived in the United States. The U.S. attorney's office said Saturday Libyan militant Ahmed Abu Khatallah is in U.S. law enforcement custody. Authorities are declining to give further details. Officials have said they intend to prosecute Khatallah in a Washington federal court. U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans died in the September 11, 2012, attack. Gunmen stormed the U.S. consulate and a nearby U.S. safe house in Benghazi. Officials say the ambassador suffocated after the militants set the consulate on fire. A U.S. special military operations unit arrested Khatallah earlier this month near Benghazi. Authorities questioned him aboard a U.S. naval ship before transferring him to U.S. soil. The U.S. Justice Department has said he faces three terrorism-related charges, including one that carries the death penalty if he is convicted. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/benghazi-suspect-arrives-in-us/194698 3.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/benghazi-suspect-arrives-in-us/1946983.html
