Explosion Targets Upscale Nigerian Shopping Center by VOA News A huge explosion has rocked a popular shopping center in the Nigerian capital. Wire service and local news reports say there are casualties. There was no immediate word on what caused the explosion. But the capital has been hit by a series of deadly bombings in recent months. In April, more than 70 people were killed after a bomb exploded at a bus terminal on the outskirts of Abuja. The Islamist militant group Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the April blast. The militant group has killed thousands of people during its five-year insurgency to establish a hardline Muslim state in northern Nigeria. In May, a car bombing at a bus station in the capital left 18 people dead. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/explosion-targets-nigerian-shopping-c enter/1944730.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/explosion-targets-nigerian-shopping-center/1944730.html
