US Unemployment Holds Steady at 6.3% by VOA News The U.S. unemployment rate held steady at 6.3 percent last month, and the economy had a net gain of 217,000 jobs. Friday's[1] report from the Labor Department is more evidence that the economy may be regaining momentum after foul winter weather slowed growth in the first few months of this year. Job growth was strongest in business and professional services, health care and food service. The jobless rate remains at a five and a half year low. The recession cut 8.7 million jobs from the economy, and these latest figures show that the economy has recovered those and a few more. Experts note that still more jobs are needed to achieve full employment because the population has grown in the years since the recession. __________________________________________________________________ [2]http://www.voanews.com/content/us-unemployment-holds-steady-at-63/19 31128.html References 1. http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000 2. http://www.voanews.com/content/us-unemployment-holds-steady-at-63/1931128.html
