Bomb Explodes Near Convoy of Presidential Frontrunner by Pamela Dockins At least two people have been killed after a roadside bomb struck the convoy of Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah. The bombing took place Friday shortly after Abdullah had wrapped up a campaign rally in the capital, Kabul. Abdullah was not injured, but in a televised statement shortly after the attack he said that two of his bodyguards were wounded. There were no immediate claims of responsibility, but on Monday the Taliban warned voters to stay away from the polls during the June 14 presidential runoff. The militant group issued a statement saying it planned more attacks aimed at disrupting the vote, which is taking place because there was no clear winner in the April 5 election. Abdullah, a former foreign minister, is considered the frontrunner. He received 45 percent of the vote in April. He is running against Ashraf Ghani, a former World Bank official. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/bomb-explodes-near-convoy-of-presiden tial-frontrunner/1930930.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/bomb-explodes-near-convoy-of-presidential-frontrunner/1930930.html
